The functioning of meteorological instruments
Link with climate change
The climate consists of the meteorological conditions of a given place over a long period of time. Changes in the climate have been noticed for the last 100 years. Meteorological intruments help to determine meteorological conditions each day. We can measure temperature, wind speed, precipitations, atmospheric pressure… However, to say that climate change is really occuring, this data must be compared with data from the last 50, 100 and 200 years. To obtain this data, visit the Canadian Water and Climate Information web site at www.msc-smc.ec.gc.ca/climate/
Description of the activity :
- give the meteorological instruments to the students and let them discover their use and the way to use them;
- students can go outside to try the instruments.
