Question 15: What motivates you to pursue a career as an artist? Why make art?

Transcription

I don’t see myself doing anything other that this. Whether it’s visual arts, animation films or literary creation as I’ve begun to do. It’s stronger than I am, I have ideas that come out and it seems to me that they must be made into art. It’s true that in my life I‘ve completely discounted the monetary side. I live not in gold ("or" in French) but in art. There seems to be a creative force that’s within me, and it just has to be expressed I wonder, even if I’d had the chance to get an ordinary job from 9 to 5, whether at night, I wouldn’t be messing around with my iron parts and my jars of paint. I can’t help it, there’s a driving force and I just have to do it. I’ll often work on weekends and I don’t even feel that it’s work. It’s a form of research that’s very satisfying. I feel I’m moving forward in something and that’s what keeps me alive. It also inspires me to see others around me who are putting things together. I find there are interesting forces in this work.
