Question 6: Have you used a number of different media? If so, how did you come to specialize in the media that you currently favour?

Yes it was really a pleasure to explore directions that were more or less unknown to me, in their technological and aesthetic possibilities. At the École des Beaux-Arts we worked with somewhat traditional materials, but when I left there, I became aware that in addition to stone and wood, we could weld, and work with plastics and resins, in countless techniques. I found that it led to new paths. At some point you could classify me as a bit as “flitting from one thing to another” but I don’t see myself doing the same thing all the time. I can accept that certain artists have very subtle evolutions in their careers and they don’t have a lot of difference in their approach. While I’m a little bit like a scientist who knows that the moon is there and wants to try to reach it. Sometimes it doesn’t pan out but we try anyway. In my case, it was really in the spirit of opening, of finding new solutions to things, and to do things that I knew were not too widely practiced, things that people are sometimes scared to try.
