Question 3: When did you begin to actively create art?

I’ve been painting on a steady basis since 1982. I say steady because it’s without interruption. But I had started before then also to master, to manipulate painting and to experiment and to paint… my sister who was knitting. I remember very clearly when I was 16-17 years old, I was in the kitchen at my parents’, painting Maryse who was knitting, and the power went out and we lit a candle so that I could continue my painting. And the candle changed the lighting and it became interesting and I think that it was maybe then, with the notion of lighting that was added to my idea, it was maybe the first painting, I would say. And I really developed the idea of trompe l’oeil, with the clothing that flowed a little like the satins of Vermeer, the Dutch paintings that we see, and the light from the candle. And it was about… I was about 16-17 years old then. Since then I’ve been painting steadily, since 1982, without interruption. Before then it depended on the period, whether I was free to paint or not.
