Question 18: What is your purpose in art-making?

What am I trying to reach, I don’t know that I’m trying to reach something. I’m trying to go further in what I do. Like earlier, I gave the example of the chandelier in the kitchen, that gained importance all of a sudden from one painting to the next. Where am I trying to go with that, I’m trying to go, I don’t know where I’m going, I’m trying to go further than my original idea. And then there was the juxtaposition of flames, of leaves, of plant motifs with the light. Well that’s what captivates me right now, that’s what I’m developing. What am I going to try to achieve with this, I’m going to try to arrive at a painting that shows very little and, at the same time, everything will have been said, in a way that I haven’t said it before.
