Question 17: In your opinion, how could society provide better support for the dissemination and the development of visual arts?
Support for distribution and development could come about maybe by… When you start an artistic production, sometimes it’s difficult to find the words for what you’re doing. Well, I think that there is maybe some assistance that could be given to people at this point, to try to organize a little bit in words what they’re doing. You see this isn’t easy when you’re working on a visual production, your words are the lines, the colours, that is what you’re developing. You know if it works or not. And when it works you always want to push it further. And this doesn’t necessarily come across in rhetoric, like when you need to apply for some grants, because that component is less developed. So when you apply for something in writing well sometimes there’s a gap. Then before you’ve properly developed your rhetorical side, well you’re already pretty advanced in your career and you maybe don’t need the recognition in question at this point. So maybe your recognition comes too late. We should try to help people who are serious in the beginning to better articulated, so that they might receive what they need to go further. I’m speaking generally here but that’s pretty much the way I see it.
