Question 14: Why do you continue to live in Atlantic Canada instead of moving to an area that affords a larger distribution network for your art?

Transcription

Well, I’ve chosen to live in the Atlantic region because I‘m from an Atlantic region. In fact, for me Gaspé is an Atlantic region. I think that nowadays, you can live in a region and exhibit in the large centres even if you don’t live there on a daily basis. For me, as far as I’m concerned, with the type of art that I do, I can practice it more easily here than in a city. Not that there aren’t landscapes in the city, for sure; there are landscapes everywhere. But I find marine landscapes and seascapes more inspiring. So I’m able to work more if I’m here. I feel it’s important to keep, even to increase our connections and broaden our distribution network, certainly. But today, with the new technologies available, the age of communication, you can do it all and still live in a region.
